monochromatic MUST be GOOD??

These photos were shot fro a DD My Style by a set/accessory designer Fred Butler.
Her inspiration comes from painting the street many colours, clashing/matching with the pretty pastel houses behind her.
"The other major factor is that I wear clothes to put me in a good mood and enjoy a day. I wear strong colours to brighten up the gloom of modern city life. It provokes a mixed reaction of either smiles in appreciation or jeers from the stereotypical small-minded souls." Fred Butler

Though it seems too extravagant to wear in monochromatic, I wanna try once!!
Don't think monochromatic is very easy to handle, at most of the time, it requites braveness....a lot!!
it might be easy to match since there's only one hue. by tuning its chroma and value based on this hue, it can hardly be wrong. because all the colors you take is related to "that" hue.

Of course, no matter what color you chose, it'll also be very eye-catching. It stands out from the crowd.
HOWEVER, i think there's negative effect for this in designing clothes.
people will be distracted by the colors easily and hard to concentrate on the design details of the clothes. what captures us in the first sight is color instead of the clothes.is that good or bad?
i think it depends on whether you would like to let color be the focus point or the clothes itself. if you wanna make the collection cohesive by colors, it's absolutely not a problem. but if not, you should think twice before coloring the collection.
